endangered animal

The animal I chose was the snow leopard. I chose this animal because it really caught my attention and looked fun. It's scientific name is "Panthera uncia." Most snow leopards live in Central Asia/Southern Russia. More specifically, Mongolia, China, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Nepal.

The kind of habitat they live in is mountain terrainMy animal eats bharal (blue sheep), ibex, himalayan tahr, marmot, pika, hares, small rodents and game birds. That was their diet, but their natural predators are us, humans and climate crisis.

Snow leopards are vulnerable to extinction because of habitat loss, poaching, climate change and habitat deterioration. Although they are not on the verge of extinction, they are vulnerable, like I said before. There are around 3,920 to 6,590 left. To help increase the number of snow leopards we can stop illegal trading and poaching.

For this assignment we had to use all 7 elements of art:

lines = I used thin lines to outline the whole piece. I also used more for the spots to add a bit more detail instead of

just using circles. The whiskers were made with even thinner lines.

shapes = I used small circles for some spots in the mouth area. I also used a couple triangles for some spots.

color = I colored my animal trying to make it as close as possible to the original picture so I used the eyedropper tool.

I actually ended up moving the colors around so they would fit better together. I want to say that I may have made them monochromatic.

value = I used a lot of beige-ish colors, all mixed with white, black and white making tints, shades and tones. I made

sure to check what direction it looked like the light was coming from. When I knew, I was able to shade parts of the body and the spots as well. I also highlighted the parts where the light seemed to be hitting the body.

form /texture = I added the soft grain effect on the spots.

(I'm not totally sure if you can see them though).

space = For space I decided to make the backgrounds gradient with colors that I thought would make it stand out.

My use of all the seven elements conveys a feeling of understanding the topics and being able to demonstrate it.

I would like my audience to notice how much detail I added to my animal.

What I would have done different, if I could do it again would be to add some more texture.

In the future, I would like to know more about other endangered animals and maybe more special details to add.
